Increasing Your Protection from
Viruses and Spyware
The simplest method a computer user may implement
to deter virus infection and spyware installation is also the least
expensive. Keeping your operating system updated will prevent many
of the holes that viruses and spyware use to damage people's systems.
Windows, the most common operating system, may be updated by downloading
patches from Microsoft's site at update.microsoft.com.
Users may go to the site and allow the Microsoft server to scan
their systems to determine if updates need to be installed. Two
options are presented, "Express" and "Custom." Clicking "Express" will
install all security related updates. "Custom" will allow
the user to choose from files which may enhance performance (updated
device drivers) or add more features.
Macintosh users may update their systems by
clicking the Apple icon, and choosing "Software Update" from
the menu. A list of items will be presented to the user. The user
may choose which updates to install from the list.

Winning E-Story Submitted by:
Gary Sloan
"Last summer I received an e-mail asking particular
questions about my birth father. It took me a moment to realize
that this was from my half-sister, who I had only met once over
30 years ago! Since then we have been in contact by e-mail several
times a month and have networked into each other's families. Thank
you NATCO!"
Gary just earned two free months of NATCO Internet
service! Submit your E-Story today and you could be our next winner!
Remember that you can enter more than once. So, if you didn’t
win this time, try again! Just go to www.natcotech.com/estories.php and
tell us how using NATCO's Internet or e-mail service has made your
life easier, helped you promote or manage your business, or simply
how much you enjoy using the Internet and e-mail. If your E-Story
is chosen, you'll win two months of free NATCO dialup Internet
service ($19.95 X 2 = $39.90) or an equivalent credit on your DSL
or ISDN account.
