  • Low DSL Rates Extended to Baxter County Customers
NATCO Tech is now able to extend its low prices for DSL Internet to existing and new Baxter County customers. Prices start at $29.95 for the first level of speed, 256Kb/s to download Web pages and other materials faster than dialup services offer. Help spread the word to friends and relatives in Baxter County who would be interested in a reliable, faster, always on Internet service.

  • DSL Special Offer Good Through January
Now is a perfect time to upgrade to DSL and enjoy the faster "always on" Internet service that lets you talk on the phone while the Internet is in use. Through January, NATCO Tech will offer a free modem and free installation with a one-year contract.

DSL is available in three speeds. Choose the price and speed that fit your Internet needs: $29.95 for 256 Kb/s downloads and 128 Kb/s uploads; $49.95 for faster 768 Kb/s downloads and 256 Kb/s uploads; $79.95 for even faster 1.5 Mb/s downloads and 512 Kb/s uploads. • Attention, AVG Anti-Virus Users
Many NATCO Tech customers who use the free AVG anti-virus software version 6.0 need to take immediate action to get the newer version. The producer of the software has announced it will discontinue version 6.0 at the end of 2004. "All virus database updates, program updates, as well as technical support for the product will no longer be available after December 31, 2004," said the software company.

So, we suggest that you immediately download the free AVG 7.0, so your protection will not be interrupted.  Or, if you choose, find anti-virus protection from another source, such as Norton, McAfee, etc.

  • Security Tips Re: Phishing
The odd spelling of the word "phishing" (pronounced "fishing") is a tip-off to what the term describes in the world of Internet trickery. Those pulling this scam are imposters looking for, or fishing, for confidential personal identification, maybe yours.

  • The "bait" is a cleverly disguised e-mail. The e-mails may seem to come from your bank or a trusted business, but are actually from imposters. To keep from being caught, here are tips from a leading insurance company about how to protect against phishing.

  • Be suspicious of demanding e-mail messages. The language and tone of the e-mail may urge you to act quickly, suggesting that your account is threatened. It may say that if you fail to verify, update, or confirm your personal or account information, access to your accounts will be suspended.

  • Do not provide personal information to unsecured Web sites. Scam e-mails often ask for your account numbers, credit card and check card numbers, Social Security numbers, online banking user ID and passwords, mother's maiden name, date of birth, or other confidential information. Secure Web sites will typically display a lock on the status bar at the bottom of your browser window. To see an example of a secured page, see the Pay Online page of the NATCO Web site. Look in your browser window for the lock icon at the bottom of the page.

  • Always type in the URL of the Web page you need. Thieves can build a fake Web site that looks nearly identical to an authentic one. They can even alter the URL that appears in your browser window. Always type in the URL of the Web page you need. It's safer to type your bank's Web address directly into your browser so you know you're visiting the legitimate site.

  • NATCO Tech E-News will pass along additional security tips in the next E-news.
