I can't tell you how helpful it is to logon and check the weather, my horoscope, and all the news from that single web page. I have to say, my favorite portal feature is the movie listings.   • Internet Tip:
    It's easy to change your home page to any Web site you want.

    For example, if you want to change your home page to southshore.com, type southshore.com into your browser's address bar and then push Enter on the keyboard. Once you see the South Shore site appear, click on Tools in the Toolbar. Now select Internet Options. The General tab is selected and the top section displays home page information. To change your home page to southshore.com, click the Use Current button. You will notice that the address above the button changes to southshore.com. Now click Apply and OK. Click the Home button on your browser. If southshore.com reloads, you have successfully changed your home page!

    Many sites contain links that will allow you to instantly make their Web site your home page. The South Shore portal page contains this feature. Go to my.southshore.com. Once you become a member, you will notice a link at the top of the page that says, "Make This My Home Page." Clicking the link will allow you to instantly change your home page to the portal page.

    I've been online for many years, but three years ago after being in an accident in which I suffered a broken back, I found myself homebound as I went through and recovered from three back surgeries. I discovered looking up my prescription drugs to be helpful. That then led to researching medical advancements, clinics and doctors all over the country.

    Online shopping became a big part of my life as conventional shopping was impossible with my limitations. I now have many friends in different chats with similar handicaps that serve as a support group.     NATCO's Online Yellow Pages - the same yellow pages found in the directory - are now online so you can find the local businesses you need in an easy to read format without leaving your computer. The online yellow pages allow you to browse by categories listed alphabetically - like the yellow pages in the directory - or you can search for a category name.

    If you already know which business you are looking for, skip the categories and jump right to searching by business name! What could be faster or easier?

  • Virus Tip: Knowing is Half the Battle!
    A good way to combat viruses is to stay informed about new viruses. Check Symantec.com or other sites for information on the newest viruses and pay attention when a new virus is mentioned in the news. E-mail viruses can often be identified according to their subject line and if you are aware of what to avoid, you will greatly increase your chances of staying virus-free!

    The latest virus threat is the Sasser Worm. This virus can cause your computer to suddenly shut down and can be spread without the use of e-mail. The following links can help you remove this virus from your system or protect your system from becoming infected:

  • Maintenance Window: NATCO Technologies performs regular maintenance on Internet equipment every Wednesday morning, between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. Your Internet service should not be affected. But, if you do experience an interruption in service during this time, please try again a few moments later. We try to minimize any "down time" by doing our maintenance at a regular time each week.
